Some people need to be struck regularly

Before a few recent revelations, I had assumed it was likely that the British National Party were on course to win at least one seat in the upcoming Greater London Assembly elections.

Then, came the news that one of their leading candidates in the election, number two on their candidate list, and their London organiser, Nick Eriksen has some, er, 'colourful' opinions on a range of subjects including domestic violence:

"some women are like gongs - they need to be struck regularly"

Rape:

"Rape is simply sex. Women enjoy sex, so rape cannot be such a terrible physical ordeal"

Women in the workplace:

"unnatural and vile... it is a strange kind of woman who would want to invest [her] energies into her job"

Rape again:

"A woman would be more inconvenienced by having her handbag snatched."

These were posted by himself on his blog or in Right Now! magazine; another publication, I believe, from veteran nutter and fascist Troy Southgate.

I may be wrong but I'm going to go and assume that Mr Eriksen has been single for a few years now.

According the to deputy leader of the BNP Simon Darby these are 'smears' and should be seen as 'satire'. Obviously Mr Eriksen's decision to enter politics was not a great loss to the world of comedy.

After defending him for a while they've sacked him.

Also, funnily enough it doesn't appear that he's repeated any of these remarks in his election leaflets. A timely reminder anyway that it's not just non-whites, homosexuals, Jews and any form of opposition which is hated by fascists but women as well.

Idiots like these shouldn't be allowed on the internet, never mind out in public.

However, I'm more interested in another candidate on the BNP's GLA list, Chris Forster, who is described as:

"a psychic and psychic event organiser"

No further comment needed.

I don't know whether it is encouraging or embarassing that, despite a complete lack of a coherent, effective anti-fascist strategy from the left, everytime the British far right look like they may be able to achieve some major success they manage to mess it up so magnificiently.

Things like this make me wish for an April Fools joke, because it's painful to think people like that can enter elections.

Chris Forster is married to an oriental women and has children by her. Strange party to want to belong to the BNP.

Women (under the auspicies of "feminism (sic)) caused 2 world wars:

simon,

Surely it was the Jews who caused both world wars though?!

Don't tell me they've been letting things slip and allowing women to gain control of world events?

Absolutely hilarious. If I meet the man, I will actually high five him for the gong comment; whether I do this before or after yelling at/punching him for the rest of his beliefs is up for debate.
